Amazingly, the BBC’s Andrew Webb managed to edit two videos from our mornings filming at CES – the second one shows three different types of 3DTV on display at the LG stand. You can see the video over at BBC News.
Now I have a bit of an admission to make here: thanks to my lazy eye I don’t really ‘get’ 3DTV because I have pretty limited depth perception. But the technology that uses the polarising sunglasses – as used in the IMAX – seems to me to work the best. Which is great news for consumers because it’s also the cheapest technology.
But will we ever be convinced to don strange looking sunglasses in our living rooms? I’m not certain -even with 3D versions of Star Wars and the Toy Story on the (pleasingly deep) horizon, 3D feels like a gimmick.
